What Dangers Lurk Inside Your Home?

Who would imagine leaving a vase of past-their-peak flowers on a counter might spell doom for a cat? While Tracy Herman blithely went out for a walk, a dried lily fell to the floor. Upon her return, she found her cat batting it around. Her vet informed her that lilies can be fatal if consumed by a cat. Panic!

Luckily, her cat had not eaten the flower. The traumatic event inspired Tracy to write “I Almost Killed My Cat With a Lily: A Complete Feline Health Guide,” a book filled with practical cat safety tips and cat health information. This guide provides answers to all of your cat health questions and concerns.

Keep lilies away from your cats, and your cats away from lilies. All members of the lily family are considered
toxic to cats, and all parts of the lily plant are toxic. Even if your cat eats a small amount, it can cause kidney
failure or death. Symptoms may include vomiting, depression, lack of appetite and increased urination. If your
cat has eaten any part of a lily, seek veterinary treatment immediately.

Types of Toxic Lilies:

·        Asian Lily

·        Casablanca Lily

·        Day Lily

·        Easter Lily

·        Japanese Show Lily

·        Rubrum Lily

·        Stargazer Lily

·        Tiger Lily

Other Fatal Foliage

Eating the following plants can be deadly to your cat:

¨     Azalea

¨     Castor Bean

¨     Lily

¨     Oleander

¨     Sago Palm

¨     Yew
